WhatToGetMy Instructional Article
If you’re getting married in the very near future, you must be super very excited and nervous all at the same time. You don’t want your relationship to change in any way, so you are looking for fun things to do after you get married to keep your relationship going strong and as exciting as it is now.
Marriage is an exciting time for you as a newlywed because it is the next big step in your relationship. You will have to learn to live life as a couple, and there will be many obstacles that you will have to learn to overcome together.
Getting married does not mean that you have to change the things you were doing together or that you have to stop having fun, you will still need to work just as hard now on your relationship as you did when your relationship was new if you want it to last.
Keeping the spark alive between the two of you after you get married can be as easy and simple as you make it. The main segments we will be discussing in this article are how to communicate in fun and interesting ways, make time for each other, laugh together by participating in fun couple activities, give each other some space when needed and love each other as much as possible.
Communicating with your significant other is more than just talking, more than using words. It is also about establishing an emotional connection with each other which includes the use of non-verbal communication.
Non-verbal communication is made up of things like the gesture you make, your body language, facial expressions you use, and the tone of your voice when you respond to something your partner says.
Some fun ways to communicate with each other are:
Play a game of 20 questions
You and your partner can sit down and each make a list of questions, you can choose any topic of things that you would like or keep your questions focused entirely on your relationship. Have a mixture of questions, some that are serious and some that are silly. The more creative you are with your questions the more fun you will have by giving and receiving answers and you will also learn a lot about each other.
You can recreate an evening like the one you had at the beginning of your relationship, where you would spend hours and hours talking to each other and sometimes it would be all night. Make a plan to stay up all night together and ask each other the questions on your lists.
Write love letters or messages to each other.
Handwritten love letters or messages are a great and classic way to let your partner know how you feel. Take some time and write a love letter expressing your love for them and thank them for all the little things that they do for you.
If a long love letter is not what you are looking for, then write short and sweet messages on post-it’s and either slip them into your partner’s bag or lunch box for them to read when they get to work.
If your partner does not have a bag or they do not take a lunch box to work, make a card that is the perfect size to fit in their wallet, write a nice message on it for them to see when they take their wallet out to buy lunch or pay for gas.
Another fun idea is to make your own tradition of having a jar or box where you can leave each other love notes, inspirational quotes or compliments every day.
Start a Blog together
Find something that you are both passionate about and start a blog together, this will give you the opportunity to communicate with each other about something other than the normal day to day issues. Working together on something that you both love will strengthen the bond you have, and bring you closer together.
Make time for each other
Every couple married or not have the same problem, and that is trying to find the time to spend together because of their busy schedules. It can be difficult but you need to make time because it’s one of the most important things couples should do together.
Some fun ways to spend time together are:
Plan regular date nights
Date nights that are fun can vary depending on the occasion. It can be anything from a romantic dinner to being something as simple as learning and cooking a new type of cuisine together. You can even try to recreate the first date you had together and try to improve on it.
Dance lessons together
If you’re thinking of fun things to do with your partner, you and your partner can choose a style of dance that you know nothing about and would like to learn and take lessons together.
Take up a new hobby together
Decide on a new hobby that you are both interested in and learn everything that you can about it together.
Tackle a DIY project together
If you want to re-decorate a room in your new home, tackle it together by choosing the color scheme that you want to paint it and what furniture and other items to place in the room.
Go on a weekend Away Together
Book a weekend away for the two of you so that you can take a break from your busy schedules. Fill your weekend up with fun things to do like making it a device-free weekend, go for a hike and stop for a romantic picnic along the way. Sleep under the stars for one night and the next day stay in bed all day.
Host a couples Dinner party
This would be an opportunity to spend some time with your partner as well as your friends. Some ideas to make the evening fun and exciting is planning to have a game night with a huge variety of games that are available from drinking games to trivia pursuit type games, you could all be in for a night of belly ache laughter.
Have a quiet relaxing evening at home
Spending a quiet evening together just sitting and relaxing can be more fun than having a whole day of adventures. Take the time to just sit and cuddle maybe in front of a fireplace sipping some wine or you can cuddle up and watch a great romantic movie.

Life is serious enough as it is, so give yourself permission to be a little silly together, relax and enjoy so that the two of you can laugh more together. Sharing laughter together builds wonderful memories and brings you closer together.
Give each other some space
In a relationship having some time apart is important to both people involved because relationships need space to grow. It is impossible for you and your partner to be everything that one person needs.
Every relationship needs memories and special moments to stay alive and if all of them are experienced together, your relationship will become dull, boring and you will land up parting ways as you will have nothing new to share with each other.
By giving each other some space you are both able to have some time to keep up with the things you love and you both are able to relax, unwind and spend some alone time with your friends and family. People need to interact with other and different types of people to learn and grow as individuals so that they can bring what they have learned back into their relationship and share those things with their partner.
Show each other Love
If you want your partner to know that you love them, the best way is to show them because actions do speak louder than words. On a day to day, basis couples express their love through a variety of actions like:
- Giving your undivided attention.
- A thoughtful gesture.
- Flirting with each other.
- Going out of your way to do something for your partner.
- Helping out without being asked.
- Thanking your partner for the things that they do.
- Focusing on the positive things in your relationship.
- Recognizing that the little things count.
Fun things to do to show that you love each other:
Surprise your partner
Most people love surprises, especially if you do something unexpected or surprise them with something they love as it shows them that you care and are paying attention to them.
It is always fun to celebrate those special moments together. Celebrating the big moments are always a must like your first date, the day you got engaged and of course your wedding day. But remember to celebrate other important moments in your life like a new job, a promotion or any other accomplishment that you have received.
Give Pet Names For Each Other
Another fun thing to do to show how much you love each other is to give each other cute pet names.
A thoughtful gesture
Thoughtful gestures can go a long way in a relationship and an example of a thoughtful gesture would be to call or message your partner just to let them know that you are thinking about them and can’t wait to see them later.
Have some fun by flirting with your partner
When you think back when you first started dating how you used to flirt with each other, it was so much fun and very exciting for both of you. Just because you are married and know each other a lot better now it doesn’t mean that you can’t flirt with each other anymore.
Finding fun things to do after you get married to keep your relationship going strong does not have to be a nerve-wracking thing. Both of you should dedicate some time to come up with different activities or habits both of you can enjoy and maintain and plan it out from there. It’s not going to be a difficult task regardless of how busy your schedule is, because you are sacrificing for the person that you love and have vowed to spend the rest of your life with.
