Useful questions before becoming friends include “What do you enjoy doing with friends?” and “How do you like to stay in touch?” Explore boundaries with “How do you prefer someone to raise a concern?” and mutual support with “What helps when you’re having a difficult week?”
To decide what to do if your wife loves someone else, clarify what you know, ask her directly, and establish whether she wants to work on the marriage. You do not need to make a permanent decision during the first conversation.
To deal with coworkers who dislike you, stay courteous and address observable work problems; a cool manner alone does not establish dislike. Aim for professional respect rather than popularity: cooperation does not require friendship.
